Founded in 1970, Northside Animal Hospital is dedicated to providing pets and their human family members with compassionate, high quality veterinary care in Valdosta, GA. Dr. Janney, Dr. Graham, Dr. Crane and their team of technicians and support staff are extremely knowledgeable and caring; we work hard to ensure that your pet receives the best care possible.
We are a full-service clinic that provides a wide range of veterinary services, including general animal health care, dental care, surgical care, diagnostic testing, as well as grooming and boarding services.
As animal lovers ourselves, we recognize the special bond humans have with their furry family members. We strive to treat every pet that comes into our hospital as if they were our very own. Meet Our Veterinarians
Earl H. Janney, DVM
Dr. Earl H. Janney is a small-animal practitioner who opened Northside Animal Hospital in 1970.
A native of Macon, Georgia, Dr. Janney says that as a young boy he always had a special interest in the care and training of his pets and hunting dogs. Becoming a veterinarian allowed him to pursue what has been a lifelong interest and passion for animal care, the joys of which, he says, revolve around, “Getting my patients well and the challenge of a difficult case.”
One of his most memorable cases, he adds, was removing four quarters from the stomach of a Dachshund named “Dollar.”
In 1961, Dr. Janney entered the University of Georgia where he undertook a pre-veterinary curriculum. By 1965 he had earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Agriculture and graduated as a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.
Concurrent to Dr. Janney’s senior undergraduate year, he entered the University of Georgia’s College of Veterinary Medicine where he graduated with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1968. His areas of particular professional interest include internal medicine as well as soft tissue and orthopedic surgery. He is also a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Georgia Veterinary Medical Association and the South Georgia Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Janney and his wife Johnnie—a retired Registered Nurse—have two children, Lane and Laurie. At home, they have one cat, Remi, a Jack Russell Terrier named Russ, and an English Setter named Jake. Beyond his veterinary duties and spending time with his family, Dr. Janney enjoys fishing, gardening, tree farming and boating.
Myron D. Graham, DVM
Dr. Myron D. Graham is a General Practitioner who has been with Northside Animal Hospital since February of 2009.
A native of Homerville, Georgia, Dr. Graham has spent his life caring for animals in one way or another. As a youth, he was an active member of The National FFA Organization and participant in 4-H livestock programs. Then in high school and college, he worked as a Veterinary Technician for Dr. Kenneth T. Blount of Waycross, Georgia.
In 1994, Dr. Graham entered the University of Georgia and earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Agriculture (BSA) in Animal Science in 1998. While a student he was a member of the Golden Key Society. He was also a member of the Horse Judging Team and the Collegiate FFA. Upon graduation, he acted as a County Extension Agent for the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension Service.
By 2003, Dr. Graham’s love of animals had led him to Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine where he earned a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2007. During his time in veterinary school, won a Semester Achievement Award, and was a two-time recipient of the school’s Veterinary Colleague Award. His areas of particular veterinary interest include small animal critical care and small-animal internal medicine.
Dr. Graham is also a member of the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association, American Veterinary Medical Association, and the South Georgia Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Graham and his wife Emily are the proud parents of two wonderful children. Harper and Walker enjoy helping their dad at the clinic and taking care of their horses, Bella and Gracie. The couple also has a Yellow Lab named Sam and a Golden Retriever named Gabby. When not working or spending time with his family, Dr. Graham enjoys hunting, fishing, camping, and traveling.
Joe B. Crane II, DVM
Dr. Joe Crane is a native of Valdosta, GA and as a young boy, he can’t remember life without being around a Veterinary Hospital. He was born in July 1947, graduated from Valdosta High School in 1965 and played football for Wright Bazemore. His father established Valdosta Veterinary Hospital in Feb. 1943, which he owned and operated along with Dr. Joe, until his death in Oct. 2006. Dr. Joe continued to run the practice until Nov. 2013, when he joined the staff of Northside Animal Hospital.
In the fall of 1965, Dr. Joe entered Auburn University in Pre-Vet curriculum and graduated from the Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine in June 1972. He practiced with his father for one year and then served for two years as Holloman AFB Veterinarian. He returned to Valdosta for good in May 1975. He practiced large and small animal medicine until the late 90’s, going to all small animal since then. His main interests are ophthalmology and surgery.
Dr. Joe is a member of the South Georgia Veterinary Medical Association, Georgia Veterinary Association, American Veterinary Association, Valdosta-North Rotary Club (since 1975), and Park Avenue United Methodist Church.
Dr. Joe and his wife Linda, a retired teacher, live in Dixie, GA and have four adult children. They enjoy spending time on the farm with their 11 grandchildren. His interests include old cars (he owns a 1957 Chevrolet that has been restored), studying the Bible, and genealogy.
Meet Our Team
Veterinary Practice Manager Laurie Scarborough has been with Northside Animal Hospital since November 2004. She is a native of Valdosta and graduated from Valdosta State University with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Management. She has worked most of her life in the animal-care field and enjoys being a part of the practice her father, Dr. Earl Janney, started in 1970. Asked what she likes most about her work, Laurie says, “It’s making a difference in the lives of our clients and their pets. I also really enjoy working here because of the caring and professional doctors and staff.”
At home, Laurie has an Australian Shepherd/Labrador Retriever mix named Ava, as well as a cat named Lily. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. Laurie also enjoys traveling, cooking, fishing, being outdoors and spending time with her friends.
Head Receptionist Brooke Roddenberry joined the staff of Northside Animal Hospital in May 2011. She says she enjoys her work with us because “The staff I work with is awesome! I also really enjoy meeting the clients and all of the unique animals that come through our doors.”
At home, Brooke has four cats named Cylas, Nermal, Gov, and U-turn, a dog named Cullen, two bearded dragons named Shenron and Sola and three turtles named Boom, Shaka, and Blaze. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family, friends and her pets.
Veterinary Assistant Macie Blake Roberts has been working at Northside Animal Hospital since July 2017 and has been in the veterinary field for two years. Macie enjoys working with animals and has always been an animal person. She has several pets of her own, including two cats (Asher & Grayson), a Chihuahua (Bella), a Pit Bull (Sadie), and a Pomchi (Tinkerbell). Outside of work, Macie enjoys hanging out with her friends and family and spending time with her pets.
Veterinary Assistant Christina Alden Rothrock joined the Northside Animal Hospital team in July 2017. She also previously worked at PetSmart. She has several loving pets at home, including a Lhasa Apso mix (Archie), and an Afghan Shepherd (Charlie). In her spare time, Christina enjoys reading, fishing, kayaking, and spending time with her family and friends.
Veterinary Assistant Brentney Leigh Green joined Northside Animal Hospital in October 2013. With eight years of experience in the animal care field, Brentney says her genuine love and concern for animals makes her a perfect fit at Northside Animal Hospital. “I like working here because I am able to be involved with both animals and humans through our team, clients, and patients,” she says.
At home, Brentney has a Shar Pei named Buddah. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her daughter. Brentney also enjoys hiking, fishing, painting, watching basketball, traveling.
Veterinary Assistant Emily Scarborough has worked at Northside Animal Hospital since May of 2015. She enjoys working at Northside Animal Hospital because she loves helping animals. Emily hopes to become a veterinarian in the future.
At home, Emily has a cat named Lily and a dog named Ava. Outside of work, she enjoys hunting, fishing, horseback riding, and spending time with her friends.
Laura Barbagallo joined the staff at Northside Animal Hospital in October 2016. She says, “I love working here because it is a happy environment. Everyone is super nice and welcoming. The best part is that I get to work with animals.”
Outside of the hospital, Laura is a full-time student at Valdosta State University. At home, she has a Husky/lab mix named Grizzly, a lab/pit bull mix named Dixie and an Australian shepherd mix named Maggie. When she’s not busy studying, Laura enjoys playing with her three dogs and spending time with her family.
Kennel Assistant Jamie Martin has been a member of our team since October 2016. He has three dogs, a Springer Spaniel named Chrissy, a Great Dane mix named Jo-Jo, and a Shih Tzu named Bama. His dogs love to run and play outside, so together, they go hiking, visit dog parks, and go swimming when it’s hot out. Jamie loves working with animals because he believes they are the most loyal friend you could ask for! In his spare time, Jamie enjoys hunting, fishing, and hiking. He also loves sports and any competitive activity.
Receptionist Carol Bassford has been with Northside Animal Hospital since May 2016. She has a Beagle-Jack Russell mix named Skippy and a Himalayan cat named Samantha. Carol loves animals because they don’t complain and are always happy to see you. She believes the care given at Northside is truly outstanding. When she’s not working, Carol enjoys watching sports, gardening, fishing, and going to the beach.
